Why Yoga?
It’s not easy to sum up what Yoga is in a few sentences…but I will try to explain why I Yoga in a few bullet points:
Yoga is an experience
- Yoga translates as ‘union’ or ‘to yoke’
- Yoga is the practice of unifying the mind, body and spirit
- Yoga is physical movement of asana (poses), but is beyond only the physicality of movement.
- Yoga is individualistic – each person will have their own feelings and reactions to what yoga is for them
- Yoga is unique
- Yoga is self awareness and what one does with the knowledge attained through their inner exploration.
- To practice yoga, one uses the body, the breath and meditation to delve into their true nature.
- Yoga is relaxation, it is an escape from the minutia of life
- Yoga is therapy for the mind, body and spirit.
- Over time, the the experience of yoga will change and morph into maybe all of the above, pieces and parts or maybe something completely new. It is ever-evolving.
